Misleading - The journalist who made the decision: gr_13
Evaluating the journalistic value of the information in the article from the Eska portal was based on the following journalistic information criteria:- Fidelity to facts - the information seems factual, but incomplete and quite complicated. It can be considered as misleading, it doesn’t explain the article’s topic clearly. Also, there are no sources mentioned that were used to write the article.
- Timeliness - the text was timely, it was published in 2022 and covered event which would happen in the future.
- Reliability - it lacks clear data from reliable sources. There are some “experts” mentioned, but they are not named nor linked to any institution. Also, the Eska platform generally is not considered as a reliable news source.
- Clarity of expression - the information isn’t provided clearly. There are some European institutions mentioned, some names of laws etc. It is probably used to make the article and the information sound reliable, serious and to mislead readers and stir up their emotions.
- Large-scale events - it can be considered as large-scale as it covers the territory of the EU.
- Proximity of the event location - it is supposed to happen in the EU.
- Significance - it can be significant for lots of people, as there are many Facebook and Instagram users and they can be affected by removing these services in their countries.
- Continuity - it is hard to define the continuity of the described event as it hasn’t happened since 2022 and still it is not very probable to take place.
- Personalization - the information isn’t personalized. It is linked to the Meta company and its services’ users.
- Tragic elements - the text lacks tragic elements.
- Drama and action - the text doesn’t contain action, but it contains drama. Banning Facebook and Instagram is considered as tragic for most of its users and the article is written in such a tone.
